This is just a friendly reminder that we have an event coming up on Monday, November 14th, at 5:30pm that you won't want to miss!
We're excited to be bringing local resident Eric Hemenway, the Director of Repatriation, Archives and Records for the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians to the library to give a presentation titled "Art Without Boundaries: The Story Behind Waganaksing Odawa Art in Vienna, Austria."
Eric's primary work includes gathering historical information, as well as historical projects that include signs, web content, publications, curriculum, and repatriation claims. He lectures locally and nationally on Odawa and Great Lakes native history.
Eric recently returned from Vienna, Austria, where he was invited to view an extensive collection of Odawa art on display in the Welt Museum Wien. In the early 1800s, dozens of unique pieces of art created by Odawa in Harbor Springs and Cross Village made their way to Vienna.
Come hear the story of these pieces and how they are still telling the story of the Waganaksing Odawa across the world.
Seating will be limited.
Also, please mark on your calendar that our Library Used Book Sale will be Saturday, December 10th, from 10am-3pm! Paperbacks will be $1, hardcovers will be $2. Please bring books to donate to the library by December 8th.
Funds raised will go toward building maintenance and new books for the library.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Amélie Trufant Dawson
