Toddler Story Time
"Children are made readers on the laps of their parents."
-Emilie Buchwald
The Harbor Springs Library hosts a toddler storytime every Thursday morning at 11:30am for children 4 and under.
Early childhood storytimes are a great way to introduce preliteracy and a love of reading. We sometimes sing songs or nursery rhymes along with reading short stories. Typically toddler storytime lasts 20-30 minutes. While we certainly don't expect babies or toddlers to sit still with their hands in their laps and listen, this is a great time for pre-k kids to learn library skills such as using their inside voice, sitting for an extended period of time, and taking turns. Everyone is free to wiggle and squirm, though, and will still soak up the benefits of reading aloud with friends.
This is also a great opportunity for parents or guardians of young children to meet each other and have a social outing each week.
